Fishing and skiing vacation in upstate NY or VT?

Me and my wife live in Montreal which is close to the borders of NY and VT. We want to take a little vacation at the end of February. We want a nice little place, maybe with a hot-tub that allows pets. I want to be close to skiing and maybe some offseason trout or other fishing. Can anyone reccomend something?

i know both those places very well.... upsate ny: for fishing: the Ausable River near lake placid is one the best trout streams anywhere, i'm not sure about fishing regulations this time of year but they should be easy to find with some research skiing: whiteface mountain also in lake placid is a pretty good mountain resort, plus the town of Lake Placid is very picturesque and historic with all the olympic sites ..overall lake placid would be very close to you in montreal too Vermont: Stowe is a great ski resort, one of the best in new england..stowe village is very quaint also....the whole area has alot to offer for after ski as well such as ben & jerry's factory tours, covered bridges, lots of microbrew pubs, etc... burlington would be a fun town to check out too--i if you want to travel a bit further there is also killington and okemo in southern vermont ..i dont knoiw anything about trout fishing in vermont in vermont:
